Local transport
The city centre and the venue are within walking distance of each other, so with some luck you need not worry about local transport.
Buses
Google Maps knows the bus schedules. You may pay your fare on the bus with a credit or debit card. Each ride costs €1.50 and you may transfer as many times as you like for a period of 90 minutes. You may also use the Urbana mobile application to pay for buses.
City bicycles
You may use the BicikeLJ city bicycles. A weekly subscription costs €1 and the first 60 minutes of each ride are free. That is more than enough to get from one end of the city to the other.
Accommodation
Hotels in Ljubljana are not interested in giving us special deals or block booking, as they fill up with tourists anyhow. Please book your own accommodation through the usual online services, or directly with a hotel of your choice.
Book early! Ljubljana is a popular destination in June, and the city tends to fill up well in advance. Waiting until close to the meetings will likely mean limited choice and higher prices.
Arriving to Ljubljana
By plane to Ljubljana airport (LJU)
On arrival, do not take one of the taxis waiting outside the arrivals, as they are predatory (apologies). For local transport we recommend:
- Public bus service
- GoOpti shuttle service
- City Taxi or Metro Taxi — book before your flight and give them your flight details and phone number
- Uber, which dispatches local taxi services
By plane to a nearby airport
Alternatively, fly to Trieste (TRS) or Zagreb (ZAG) and take GoOpti shuttle service to Ljubljana. Make sure to book the shuttle well in advance, as prices rise as seats fill.
By train
The train station is in the city centre. If you arrive by train, do not take one of the taxis waiting outside the station, as they are predatory (apologies again). Call City Taxi or Metro Taxi (linked above) on arrival; they arrive within minutes.
By car
If you arrive by car, you should make sure that your accommodation has parking. You cannot easily or cheaply park in the city centre. You can leave your car in the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics parking lot, in which case you should contact Andrej Bauer.
